We always refer to this property as "incredibly enchanting", which truly is an understatement. The property is located on the second lot downstream of the Gravel Pit Road bridge, on the east side of the river. The house and most of the property cannot be seen from the road or bridge. There's a private road running parallel and directly west of the Slocan Valley rail trail, which leads to the property's entrance where there's a lockable access gate on the right. Upon entering through the gate, the driveway leads you through the private wooded area either straight down to the river, and boat launch area, or veers to the right and leads to the shop area. The well-manicured grounds provide a "forest green" canvass for the dark shadows of the trees, that quietly creep around the property on clear sunny days. This section of the Slocan River is host to an extremely sensitive eco system that is vibrant with a vast array of diverse wildlife, providing continuous entertainment. You cannot drive onto the property without seeing 3 or 4 deer scampering for cover from the open areas to the safety of the woods. There are 6 - 8 deer that live on the property year-round, and every spring there are few new baby fawns playing on the grounds.
The world class, fly fishing is one of the best fishing spots on the entire river (we hate to advertise this, but it is a great feature). Naturally, the birds of prey already know this, Mother Nature would have it no other way, and there's many Eagles, Osprey, and Blue Herron either perched upon tree tops, or circling above and diving into the river then flying off with their catch. The world class birding this area provides is the most carefree access to "the greatest show on earth." There are four or five species of ducks, as well as Canadian Geese, and white Swans that migrate to this area and play on the river. Every spring parades of ducks and geese swim up and down our shoreline putting their baby ducklings on display.

There are hundreds, of other bird species which is one reason why the nearby area has been designated as a wildlife reserve. Unless you're an absolute expert, you will need a book to identify all the birds, and their songs that serenade the property.

Almost forgot to mention the many species of hummingbirds buzzing around. Many days in the summer we have to take the feeder down on our porch as it can get to be crazy, like a swarm of bees. If you're not familiar with the Slocan Valley Rail Trail that borders the east property line, google it, and get good information from its own site. The opening paragraph reads, "Winding gently through one of the most beautiful river valleys in British Columbia, the Slocan Valley Rail Trail offers easy access to 50 km of breath taking scenery."
